The opening of Nando's 500th restaurant in the UK and Ireland marks a significant milestone for one of the nation's most recognisable hospitality brands. Located in Leatherhead, Surrey, the new restaurant celebrates more than three decades of growth, community engagement and design innovation, bringing together the vibrant interiors and welcoming atmosphere that have become synonymous with the Nando's experience.
Warrington + Rose is proud to have contributed to this landmark project, supplying a collection of bespoke UHPC concrete features that form part of the restaurant's carefully considered interior scheme. While Leatherhead represents a notable achievement for Nando's, it also reflects the growing relationship between our two businesses and a shared commitment to quality, craftsmanship and design.
Since joining the Nando's supplier programme in 2024, we have delivered bespoke concrete commissions for more than thirteen restaurants across the UK. Working on both new openings and refurbishment projects, our involvement has spanned locations from major city centres to local community restaurants, each requiring a core understanding of the restaurant's ethics and cultural background, then to be tailored to the needs of each individual site.
As Nando's restaurants continue to evolve, so too does their approach to interior design. Known for celebrating culture, colour, and texture, each restaurant is thoughtfully designed to create a unique customer experience while remaining true to the brand's Southern African heritage. This emphasis on materiality and individuality makes bespoke manufacturing an important part of the process, allowing each space to develop its own character while contributing to a recognisable design language across all the renovations.
Across the projects completed to date, we have supplied a range of bespoke concrete features including trough basins, vanity basins, our Nord basins, condiments units, and work surfaces. Produced in the vibrant colours that we supply, the pieces were designed to complement the restaurant's wider interior scheme while reflecting the bold use of colour that has become a hallmark of contemporary Nando's design.
Every piece is manufactured from Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC), a material chosen for its strength, longevity and suitability for demanding commercial environments. For Warrington + Rose, the partnership has provided an opportunity to showcase the versatility of concrete within hospitality environments, creating products that balance durability with strong visual impact.
One of the most distinctive aspects of these projects is the use of colour. Rather than relying on surface coatings or finishes, the concrete itself is pigmented during the fabrication process to achieve the exact hues specified for each restaurant. This allows the finished pieces to integrate seamlessly within the wider interior palette, whilst maintaining the necessary durability and performance required for high-traffic hospitality settings. The result is a collection of products and surfaces that are both functional and architectural, contributing to the overall atmosphere of each restaurant while standing up to years of daily use.
The completed installation forms part of a restaurant that not only celebrates Nando's remarkable growth but also showcases the creativity and collaboration involved in bringing each new location to life. From our first Nando's commission in late 2024 to contributing to the opening of the brand's 500th restaurant, the partnership between Warrington + Rose and Nando's has continued to grow. With further projects already in development, we look forward to supporting future restaurant openings and renovations with bespoke concrete solutions that combine craftsmanship and sustainability, with culture and design.
Leatherhead may mark a significant milestone, but it is also a reminder that great hospitality spaces are built through collaboration. We are proud to play our part in helping shape the next chapter of Nando's story.
